The picture we chosen to characterize this contest reveals a lizardfish with open mouth revealing a shock. “It appeared that the lizardfish was attempting to swallow the opposite fish tail-first earlier than it acquired caught in its throat,” says Jack Pokoj who took this unbelievable shot. “Each fish seemed to be in some misery. Lizardfish are ambush predators and swim away if a diver will get too shut, so this behaviour was extremely uncommon. The lizardfish stored its mouth open as if it wished the fish inside its mouth to flee.”
